Looking Sch(M)ick for the Dally M Awards

Schick Men has been the proud grooming partner of the NRL for the last three years. With the all important Dally M Medal event coming up, we thought it would be appropriate to help the NRL players out.

The Dally M Medal — named for league legend Henry ‘Dally’ Messenger — is the premier award for rugby league players in Australia.

This year the NRL’s night of nights is on 26th September, and for the players in attendance it can be a step outside their comfort zone. While the field for the Dally M medal may still be wide open, the expectations for invitees are set in stone — look sharp, and act like you know what you’re doing.

Luckily, there is often someone to remind them how it’s done!

Watch above as Beau Ryan takes legend of the game and Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen, and future star Kyle Flanagan through the essential pre-event rituals that will protect them from embarrassment — as only Beau can.

Gal is no stranger to the ceremony, having won Best Lock in 2011, 2012 and 2017, and the Peter Frilingos Memorial Award for the headline moment of the year in 2011. Kyle is yet to make it past the front door.

But both ‘benefit’ from the knowledge and experience of the still-hopeful-for-a-win Ryan.

Starting with a fresh shave, the boys proceed to the dressing room to do battle with bow ties, before tackling table manners and the potential pitfalls of a cheese course. Let’s say that some parts of the preparation are easier than others.
