The Best Women’s Hair Removal Tips
Shaving shouldn’t be difficult, so we’ve popped together some tips to help you get the most out of every shave – no matter where you’re removing hair. The most important tip is making sure you replace your razor cartridge when it starts to go blunt. A sharp, fresh razor helps reduce irritation and gives you a smooth shave every time.
Legs
1. Allow your leg hair to soften with warm water for a few minutes, then lather up with a good quality shave prep like our Schick Silk Sensitive or Moisturising shave gel. Water plumps up the hair, making it easier to cut, and the shaving gel helps retain the moisture.
2. Use long, even strokes without applying excessive pressure. Shave carefully over areas like ankles, shins and knees.
3. For knees, bend slightly to pull the skin tight before shaving, as folded skin is difficult to shave and can lead to nicks and cuts.
4. Stay warm to prevent goose bumps, as any irregularity in the skin surface can complicate shaving.
Underarms
1. Allow your underarm hair to soften with warm water and prepare the skin for shaving with a good quality shave gel like our Schick Silk Sensitive or Moisturising shave gel.
2. Lift your arm up while shaving to pull skin tight.
3. Shave from the bottom up, allowing the razor to glide over the skin.
4. Avoid shaving the same area more than once to minimise skin irritation.
5. Avoid applying deodorants or antiperspirants immediately after shaving, as doing so can result in irritation and stinging.
Bikini Area
1. Allow the hair to soften with warm water and then apply a layer of shaving gel. This preparation is a must, as the hair in the bikini area tends to be thicker, denser and curlier, making it more difficult to cut.
2. Handle the skin in the bikini area gently, as it is thin and tender.
3. You might need to trim longer hair before shaving to avoid the cartridge getting clogged and pulling the hair. Our Schick Silk Total Bikini features a razor on one end and a trimmer on the other end, making it perfect for trimming and/or shaving your bikini area.
4. Hold the skin tight and using smooth even strokes. Gently glide the razor over the area you want to remove hair.
After shaving, your skin might be sensitive. Follow up with a gentle body lotion to seal in moisture and help prevent dry skin.
